Bilabial nasal to Close-mid back rounded vowel

The shift from the bilabial nasal [m] to the mid-back rounded vowel [o] is a form of vocalization. In syllable coda positions, the labial closure of the [m] can be lost, leaving only the lip-rounding and back resonance, which merges into the vowel space.
