Voiced alveolar fricative to Voiced dental fricative

The transformation from the voiced alveolar fricative /z/ to the voiced dental fricative /ð/ involves a shift in the place of articulation, moving the point of contact from the alveolar ridge to the teeth. This process, known as dentalization, results in a sound produced with the tongue tip or blade against the upper front teeth.
